Rachel Arlandson

Kim Harbinson

Kim rediscovered her love for fitness and personal wellness after a ‘far-too-long’ hiatus. As part of her journey, she became a Certified Spin Instructor and now leads others on their own journeys. Kim is also CPR certified and teaches Spin and Strength. She enjoys teaching, building playlists, and cycling with some pretty darn amazing clients!

Shelagh Burke

Shelagh is a certified Yoga Instructor and has been with Defining You since 2012. She turned to yoga in 2002 after completing her first marathon – she found the practice of Yoga to be challenging yet more gentle on her body. Shelagh teaches Yoga and Barre and strives to offer her students a physically challenging yet accessible class.

Ann Hobbie

Ann is, in all parts of her world, an educator. As such, it was a natural evolution for her to become a fitness instructor. She approaches her classes with passion and purpose and infuses fitness training with an inclusive signature style. Ann is a Certified Spin Instructor, Certified ACE personal trainer and CPR certified. She teaches the gamut at DYF, including Spin, Barre, Tabata, HITT, and specialty classes. She also provides private and semi-private functional training.

Suzy Levi

Owner of Defining You Pilates &Fitness.

 For over 25 years Suzy has been motivating and inspiring individual to achieve their fitness and wellness goals. Suzy strongly believes in the quote from Joseph Pilates: “Change happens through movement and movement heals.” Exercise not only improves the physical body; but also improves emotional and social health. This is a concept that she brings to her clients every day.

Suzy is going into her 7th year as chair for the Cinco De Mayo 5K Race in Highland Park that raises funds for The Friends Of the Orphans Organization. She is passionate about this cause because it marries her love for helping people get fit and helping children. Suzy is a Pilates and Fitness Trainer, Workshop Presenter, Fitness Instructor Educator, and a Motivational Speaker. She is known for her contagious energy and enthusiasm for health and wellness. Suzy is also known for her love of fine food and movies, as she gives restaurant and movie reviews weekly. She lives in St. Paul, and enjoys spending time with her 4 children and her boyfriend Scot. Her Hobbies include running, biking, reading (especially historical fiction), attending historical tours and events, going to movies and plays, and discovering new restaurants and foods. When she grows up, she wants to complete an Iron Man Triathlon and climb Mount Kilamanjaro.

Education and Certifications Include: BA University of Notre Dame, ACE Personal Trainer, NASM Personal Trainer, AEA (Aquatic Exercise Association) & Peak Pilates Levels I,II,III, Chair and Barrel.

Amy Mahowald

Amy began her journey at DYF as a client. After discovering her love for Saturday morning Spin classes, she became a Certified Spin Instructor in 2015. Amy now leads her own fun-filled rides on Saturday mornings.

Molly McAvoy

Molly is a Pilates Method Alliance comprehensive certified Pilates Instructor and NASM certified Personal Trainer. She loves working with client of all levels and her favorite thing is helping people overcome their challenges. Molly teaches Pilates Reformer, Mat Pilates, Tabata, Senior Strength, and provides private and semi-private Pilates and Functional training.

Peggy Morgan

Peggy is our resident dance expert with experience in classical ballet, jazz and tap dancing, and is a member of the Royal Academy of Dance (in the United Kingdom). In her earlier years, she was an active competitor, and member of a dance company. Peggy has since transitioned to fitness classes and now leads the popular Ballet Barre classes at DYF.

Lindsay Norton

Lindsay began spinning over 8 years ago. She fell in love with the concept of being in a group environment, but having control over her own ride. After becoming a certified Spin Instructor in 2016, she now shares her love of spinning with others. Lindsay is also an ACE certified Group Instructor and currently teaches Spin, Spin & Strength, and Barre.

Melanie Nugent-Riess

Melanie earned her B.S. In Kinesiology and Minor in Coaching in 2003. After completing her first marathon, her body told her it was time to find something challenging with less of an impact. This is when she found her love for Yoga and became a certified Yoga Instructor. Since then, Melanie has embraced both Pilates and Barre and now teaches Barre at DYF
on Saturdays.

Annie Thompson

Annie fell in love with Pilates after her first mat class in 2001. After several years of practicing, she decided to become an instructor. Annie trained through the PhysicalMind Institute and received her mat Pilates certification in 2008. From there she didn’t stop. She’s done extensive training on the Reformer, Cadillac, and Chair in 2009 and received her Barre Certification in 2015. Annie now teaches Barre and Mat Pilate
 at DYF.

Mao Vang

Mao has been an ACE Certified personal trainer since 2015. She specializes in strength training, wellness coaching, and general fitness. Mao teaches Tabata at DYF
