Pilates

Pilates, founded by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century, is a method of exercise and physical movement designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body. Pilates yields many benefits including increased lung capacity and circulation, enhanced posture, balance, and core strength, and improved bone density and joint health. At DYF we offer a variety of Pilates Reformer, Mat, and Apparatus classes.

 

  • Pilates

    Wed., 9:30

     

    Perfect for ALL levels.This class combines the stretching & toning elements of pilates & yoga, the strengthening & sculpting elements of ballet, and the fat burning benefits of interval training. In this "anything goes" fusion class we utilize pilates rings/ balls, ballet bar, resistance bands, and hand weights. By using isometric movements followed by stretching we create long, lean muscles. Shaking is just a bonus!

  • All Levels Mat Pilates

    Class consists of Pilates strength and conditioning exercises performed on the floor. Pilates small equipment will be used to add variety and intensity to the basic Pilates exercises. Class is for all Levels beyond Introductory. 45 minutes.

     

  • Pilates Apparatus Class
    Barrel/Chair/Reformer/Tower

    Mon., 9:30am

     

    The Pilates Method is a system, both of exercises and apparatus. In this class you will use of all the Pilates apparatus - Reformer, Tower, Chair, and Barrels to work your body and connect all of your muscles to create new challenges and vary your routine. You will experience the unique qualities of each apparatus and discover how the combination of all of them challenges both your body and mind. This class is appropriate for all levels. Some Pilates experience is recommended.

  • Mat Pilates 2

    Mat Pilates 2: 45 minutes. This is an Advanced Beginner/ Intermediate class. It is a continuation of Mat 1 as intermediate exercises are added to the order. The class will move at a quicker pace with more emphasis placed on coordination and control of movement. Students will experience increased core strength, spine flexibility, and an improved ability to execute the exercises with precision and flow. (To achieve optimal Pilates results, we encourage taking Reformer 1 classes in conjunction with this class.)

  • Seniors Pilates Sculpt

    Tues., & Thurs., 10:45am

     

    Combine Pilates, Stretching, and sculpting exercises using light weights, and bands for a gentle, yet effective workout for the mature adult. Class will focus on strengthening the core,

    and improving and maintaining range of motion, to build a strong, flexible, body to age gracefully. 45 minutes..

  • All Levels Reformer

    This is a all level class that introduces the exercises taught on the Reformer. Participants will feel leave feeling lengthened, strengthened, and challenged. Set up, and transitions will be taught for each exercise to achieve a flow for a smooth workout. * Pre-Registration is encouraged as there are only 5 spots per class

  • Reformer 1

    This is a beginner class that expands on the Introductory Reformer exercises taught in Introductory Reformer. New exercise will be added to challenge core strength and balance. Participants will feel leave feeling lengthened, strengthened, and challenged. Set up, and transitions will be taught for each exercise to achieve a flow for a smooth workout. * Pre- Registration is encouraged as there are only 4 spots per class. No shoes necessary - these classes are taken in bare feet. 60 minutes.

  • Reformer 2

    Fri., 6am

     

    This is an Intermediate Level Class. Must have been attending Pilates ALL Level and Mat 1 and ALL Level and Reformer 1 Classes for at least 6 months to take this class* Pre-Registration is encouraged as there are only 5 spots per class.

Group Fitness

At DYF we strive to offer a variety of classes to meet your needs. Our group fitness classes provide a way to connect with a welcoming community and build a foundation and structure to help you reach your fitness goals. Current group fitness classes include Barre, Ballet Barre, Yoga, HIIT, Tabata, and Spin, and Strength.

 

  • Ballet Barre

    Experience the movement of a Dancer in this heart pumping fun class. You will move to the tempo of upbeat music with ballet-inspired barre stretches and exercises to work the thighs, calves, glutes and posture. Small hand-weights and floor exercises are used to work the biceps, triceps, chest, back and shoulders. Additional exercises are performed at the barre to improve strength and flexibility, followed by planks, pushups, abs and other core exercises, before winding down with stretching. Isometric strength exercises combined with a focus on posture, alignment and stretching build muscle while avoiding injury. No Ballet or Dance experience necessary. Desire to Dance and Sweat required! 60 minutes.

  • Power Barre

    Yoga Fusion

    This format combines a modified vinyasa flow with many of the standing balance and spine strengthening postures offered in typical hot sequence. The good news is that there is no added heat and the class is "shoulder-friendly" as there are no chaturungas.

    This class is 60 minutes and is done in bare feet

  • Relax Flow Yoga

    Strala RELAX is a moving flow that releases tension in the body and mind, while resting the attention calmly on the breath, creating rejuvenation from the inside out. Class is 60 minutes

  • Tabata

    Sat., 11am

    Mon., 12pm

     

    This amazing, non-stop, “never get bored workout” is scientifically proven to increase your endurance and athletic performance, decrease your body fat, and increase your metabolism! You will push through 20 second intervals of high intensity cardio/strength exercise followed by 10 seconds of rest, just enough to catch your breath and wipe your brow. The series repeats 8 times, then on to another set of exciting exercises. Get in the best shape of your life, feel the burn, and waste no time! 45 Minutes.

  • H.I.I.T

    Tues., 6am & 8:30am

    Thurs., 8:30am

     

    HIIT: The acronym stands for High Intensity Interval Training. This class format consists of repeated bouts of high intensity cardiovascular and resistance exercise followed by short periods of recovery. The work-to-rest ratios can come in all shapes and sizes but if you’re hoping for maximum benefits, you must be willing to work hard. The good news is it doesn’t have to last long to be effective. Phew!- Class is 60 minutes long and for all levels.

    This Class requires Shoes. 45 minutes.

  • Spin

    Spinning classes are fun,and exhilarating. The Spinning workouts are built on the foundational principles of outdoor cycling. Enjoy the many benefits of this amazing sport while having a blast in a lively, small, group atmosphere with motivating music. This class is multi-level and no outdoor cycling experience is required.

This class begins with building Strength in the Upper Body - Chest, Back, Arms and Abs, followed by spinning to challenge you cardiovascularly! We will utilize TRX, bands, medicine balls, dumbbells and more in a circuit style class sure to make you feel new muscles! Form and proper technique will be taught, so this class is perfect for all ability levels! Bring your tennis shoes! 60 minutes.

  • Strength

    Bring your tennis shoes to this 30 minute class laser focuses on building Strength in the Upper Body - Chest, Back, Arms and Abs! We will utilize TRX, bands, medicine balls, dumbbells and more in a circuit style class sure to make you feel new muscles! Form and proper technique will be taught, so this class is perfect for all ability levels! 30 minutes.

     

Private & Semi Private Training

Private and Semi-Private training sessions are the most effective way to focus on your individual needs and goals. At DFY, we provide training with an emphasis on functional and core strength. Functional Training involves training the body focused on the activities performed in every day life. Functional Training leads to better muscular balance and joint stability.
